ACTIVIDAD REALIZADA: LA LENTITUD DE LAS IMAGENES/ CATHERINE BODMER
La práctica artística de Catherine Bodmer consiste en instalaciones, obras in-situ y fotografías. La idea del circuito y de transformación es el centro de su investigación, así como la observación de los aspectos banales y ordinarios de la vida, que busca infundir de una dimensión suplementaria. Hace varios años, Catherine Bodmer empezó a trabajar con la fotografía y el tratamiento numérico a fin de explorar el espacio de la imagen y de la imaginación. Su atención está fijada sobre los lugares que se encuentran en la periferia de lo cotidiano, o que representan una especie de extensión de esto, evocando un sentido de apertura y de especulación, y al mismo tiempo de precariedad.
Piensa las imágenes como una materia primera que puede ser transformada y manipulada libremente. Trabaja sobre todo con la simetría y la idea de imágen-bucle (image-loop) donde un lugar se ha puesto en contacto con él mismo, tanto como la imagen adentrarse en relación con sí misma. La manipulación de los pixeles numéricos así como las estrategias de multiplicación y de variación de un sujeto, están comprendidas en el interior de una idea más vasta, subrayando la vulnerabilidad de la nuestra existencia frente a una comprensión cada vez mas compleja y calidoscópica de la realidad.
BIO.
Catherine Bodmer, de origen suiza, vive y trabaja en Montreal, Canadá, desde 1996. Estudió en la escuela de Bellas Artes de Lucerna en Suiza y después obtuvo un Master en Bellas Artes (MFA) de la Universidad de Québec en Montreal, Canadá, en 1999. Sus instalaciones y fotografías han sido presentadas a través de Canadá, así como en la ciudad de México y en Taiwán. En 2008, ganó un premio de fotografía del Consejo de Artes de Canadá y en 2010 hico una residencia artística de cuatro meses en ciudad de México con una beca del FONCA y del Consejo de Artes y Letras de Québec.

The artistic practice of Catherine Bodmer consists in facilities, on-site works and photographs. The idea of the circuit and the transformation of the center of her investigation and observation of the mundane and ordinary aspects of life that seeks to infuse an additional dimension.Several years ago, Catherine Bodmer began working with photography and digital processing to explore the space of image and imagination.Her attention is fixed on the sites that are on the periphery of everyday life, or that represent a kind of extension of this, evoking a sense of openness and speculation, while precarious.
She think of the images as a raw material that can be transformed and manipulated freely. She works primarily with symmetry and the idea of image-loop where a place has been in touch with himself, as well as enter the picture in relation to itself. Manipulation of pixels and numerical as well as strategies for multiplication and variation of a subject, fall within a broader notion, highlighting the vulnerability of our existence facing an increasingly complex understanding of reality.

BIO.
Catherine Bodmer, was born in Switzerlandde,lives and works in Montreal, Canada, since 1996.She studied at the School of Fine Arts of Lucerne in Switzerland and later earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at the University of Quebec in Montreal, Canada in 1999.Her installations and photographs have been presented across Canada as well as Mexico City and Taiwan. In 2008, she won a photography prize Arts Council of Canada and in 2010 made a four month artist residency in Mexico City with a scholarship FONCA and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
