El imaginario, las representaciones mentales y la visualidad en franca tensión con esa otra parte de la condición humana que nos empeñamos en olvidar mediante la cultura, eso que el filósofo Giorgio Agamben ha denominado nuda vida —que somos cuerpos a la deriva, frágiles y mortales— es el espacio de investigación de José Jiménez Ortiz: un artista formado desde la sociología, pero que ha encontrado mucho más potente y desafiante el arte como campo discursivo y de experimentación.
José Jiménez Ortiz ensaya posibilidades de acción y construcción de subjetividad frente a este quiebre de la razón —y de los conceptos de tiempo, espacio, vida y comunicación— tan normado y regulado en la sociedad contemporánea.
Bio
Lic. En Sociología por la UAdeC. Ha expuesto su trabajo en la VII Bienal de Mercosul, el Museo Carrillo Gil, el MUCA Roma-UNAM, Casa del Lago, el SITAC IX, Transitio 04, el proyecto Space and Books de la Universidad de Frankfurt, y en museos y galerías de Austria, Finlandia, Alemania, España, Argentina y Holanda. Becario del Programa Jóvenes Creadores del FONCA (2008 y 2010), del Programa Bancomer-MACG Arte Actual (2010), del Programa para Residencias en el extranjero FONCA-CONACYT (2011), y el Programa de Residencias ADM – Kunstiftung Baden Württemberg (2012). Premio de adquisición de la VII Bienal de Arte Joven de Coahuila, Premio de Instalación del ICOCULT, Premio Estatal de Periodismo (2004 y 2006), y Premio Estatal de la Juventud en Coahuila (2004). Ha realizado residencias de producción en el Museo Experimental El Eco y el espacio interdisciplinario ONF. Durante el 2012, realizará residencias y exposiciones en Brasil y Alemania, y dirigirá junto a Leo Marz el projectroom de objectnotfound.org en Monterrey.

The imaginary mental representations and visuality in sharp tension with that other part of the human condition that we endeavor to forget through culture, that the philosopher Giorgio Agamben has called bare life – we are drifting bodies, frail and mortal – is the research area of José Jiménez Ortiz: an artist formed from sociology, but found much more power and challeng in art as a discursive field and experimental.
Jose Jimenez Ortiz tested possibilities for action and construction of subjectivity against this breakdown of reason – and the concepts of time, space, life and communication – so normed and regulated in contemporary society.
Bio
Graduate in Sociology UAdeC.He has exhibited his work in the VII Biennial of Mercosul,the Museo Carrillo Gil, the MUCA Roma-UNAM, Casa del Lago, the SITAC IX, Transitio 04, Space and Books project of the University of Frankfurt, and in museums and galleries in Austria, Finland, Germany, Spain, Argentina and the Netherlands. During 2012,he held residencies and exhibitions in Brazil and Germany lead by Leo Marz the projectroom of objectnotfound.org in Monterrey.
